However, with a keen interest in legal affairs, he progressed to studying Law at The College of Law where, after completing his Post Graduate Diploma in Law with a Commendation, he passed the Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, being awarded a Distinction from the College.
After completing Law School, Ashley spent almost 5 years working at Kerwoods across two spells, further specialising in Commercial, Commercial Property and Employment Law during this period, qualifying as a Solicitor in 2008.
Ashley set up his own niche firm, A.C. Gurr Law, again specialising in Commercial and Employment Law, which merged with Kerwoods in 2014, whereupon Ashley became Partner in charge over those departments.
